PFAs

Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAs) are chemicals added to garments to help make them water- and stain-repellent. They tend to be used on outerwear, such as coats and jackets.

Over many years, health-related concerns have been raised about the use of PFAs. For this reason, we’ve never developed any products that have water- or stain-repellent coatings that could include PFAs.

Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® certifies that every element of a garment has been tested for harmful substances and is harmless to people. Though it doesn’t guarantee PFA-free materials, certification ensures that in the unlikely event that PFAs are used, they would be within safe recognised limits for people.
